The Poe Project
$3,000 to provide professional mentorship to three emerging operatic composers who are writing new works for full professional production. Funded by The ASCAP Foundation Joseph & Rosalie Meyer Fund.

Santa Cruz, CA
Conductors/Composers Professional Training Workshop
$3,750 to support three early-career ASCAP composers participating in this professional training program workshop, which focuses on interpreting and performing new music for orchestra. Funded by The ASCAP Foundation Johnny Lange Fund.

Chicago Jazz Ensemble, Chicago, IL Louis Armstrong Legacy Program and Celebration
$2,500 to provide inner-city music teachers with materials and mentors to teach Louis Armstrong's Hot Five and Hot Seven recordings to high school music students, concluding with a performance of the material featuring the participating school ensembles. Funded through The ASCAP Foundation Louis Armstrong Fund.

Ethos Music Center, Portland, OR
Music Across Oregon
$2,000 to support an outreach program in rural communities that brings music education and songwriting to K-12 students. Funded by The ASCAP Foundation Irving Caesar Fund.

From the Top, Inc., Burlington, VT
Young Composer on From the Top
$2,000 to support the radio broadcast, on the nationally syndicated NPR program From the Top, of original work by a pre-college ASCAP composer who will also discuss his process of composition and share his experiences with peers. Funded by The ASCAP Foundation Jack & Amy Norworth Fund.

Manhattan Producers Alliance, Tarrytown, NY
Soundbites Summer Camp at the Hackley School
$1,750 to support a scholarship for a middle or high school student from an underserved community to attend the camp focusing specifically on composing, performing & recording an original composition. Funded by The ASCAP Foundation Irving Caesar Fund.

Swallow Hill Music Association, Denver, CO
Young Songwriter's Competition
$3,000 to provide music education scholarships to the top three recipients of the Swallow Hill Music Association Young Songwriter's Competition, which is open to middle and high school aged students. Funded by The ASCAP Foundation Irving Caesar Fund.

LaGuardia High School: An Educational Partnership
$5,000 to support an after-school program whereby LaGuardia High School seniors are introduced to compositions and interdisciplinary works to encourage and provide a framework for the creation of their own original work. Funded by The ASCAP Foundation Irving Caesar Fund.

The ASCAP Foundation Composer Fellowship
$5,000 to support a Fellowship that will provide a residency of up to 2 months for an emerging ASCAP composer. Funded by The ASCAP Foundation Johnny Lange Fund.

The Tipitina's Foundation, New Orleans, LA
Tipitina's Sunday Music Workshop
$3,000 to support a monthly songwriting workshop for students in the New Orleans area. Funded by The ASCAP Foundation Irving Caesar Fund.

Valley City State University Department of Music, Valley City, ND
Ninth Annual Composers Competition and Concert
$2,500 to support an ASCAP composer serving as a mentor and providing feedback to high-school and college-age students from four states participating in a composers competition and concert. Funded by The ASCAP Foundation Irving Caesar Fund.

Vanderbilt Kennedy Center, Nashville, TN
Vanderbilt Kennedy Music Camp
$1,300 to provide a camp scholarship to an individual with Williams Syndrome, a neurological disorder. The week-long camp strives to lessen anxieties caused by the disease through songwriting and music performance. Funded by The ASCAP Foundation Irving Caesar Fund.

Young People's Chorus of New York,
New York, NY
Scholarships for Young People's Choral Literacy & Performance Program
$5,000 to provide need-based scholarships for five students to participate in the Chorus' Choral Literacy and Performance Program, which involves working with composers and participating in YPC's commissioning program. Funded by The ASCAP Foundation Irving Caesar Fund.

Youth Movement Records, Oakland, CA
The Musical Mentoring Project
$2,500 to support the mentoring of promising young songwriters by professional ASCAP members. The project will result in a CD compilation of 5 original songs and a showcase of the works at a local theatre. Funded by The ASCAP Foundation Irving Caesar Fund.

The Grand Canyon Music Festival
Native American Composer Apprentice Project
Grand Canyon, AZ

Since 2008, The ASCAP Foundation has provided a grant to The Grand Canyon Music Festival to support its Native American Composer Apprentice program. The program provides a creative opportunity for 25 talented students annually within the Native American communities of Arizona to work with ASCAP composers to create original works, which are then fine tuned with the help of ASCAP member & Composer-in-Residence, Ravon Chacon and performed by renowned NYC quartet Ethel. The program was honored with the 2012 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award from the President’s Committee on the Arts & Humanities.
