The ASCAP Foundation Grant Application Procedures For 2008 Funding

The ASCAP Foundation is a publicly supported 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to supporting American music creators and encouraging their development through music education and talent development programs. The ASCAP Foundation establishes and funds its own programs and also provides grants to other 501(c)(3) organizations engaged in music education programs for aspiring songwriters and composers. The majority of ASCAP Foundation grants are awarded through a competitive, two-step process: a Letter of Inquiry, and a Full Grant Application. Applicants are asked to send in the Full Grant Application when requested by staff after submitting their Letter of Inquiry.

Our average grant is between $3,000 - $5,000 and grants are made on an annual one-time basis. Organizations that have already received funding from The ASCAP Foundation may apply in writing for renewed support as part of your required progress report, providing the request is for the same program and same dollar amount. If an organization that has already received funding from The ASCAP Foundation is requesting funding for a new program, a Letter of Inquiry is required.

Application Process: Full Grant Applications are by invitation only. Those interested in submitting a proposal should first submit a Letter of Inquiry form. Organizations must have 501(c)(3) status in order to submit a Letter of Inquiry. If you are invited by ASCAP Foundation staff to submit a full proposal, you should complete the Full Grant Application form. Organizations will be allowed to submit only one Letter of Inquiry per calendar year.

Before submitting your Letter of Inquiry, please read The ASCAP Foundation Grant Application Guidelines to determine whether your organization and program meets our funding requirements.

Deadlines: The Letter of Inquiry requesting funding for the 2008 calendar year must be received in The ASCAP Foundation Office no later than August 1, 2007. You will hear within one month whether your organization will be invited to submit a Full Grant Application. Submitting a Full Grant Application does not guarantee funding. We request that you send your Letter of Inquiry to The ASCAP Foundation as early as possible. Final Grant Applications must be received in our office by October 1, 2007.
