The ASCAP Foundation Grant Application Guidelines For 2008

The ASCAP Foundation was established in 1975 and is a publicly supported charitable organization dedicated to supporting American music creators and encouraging their development through music education and talent development programs. Included in these programs are songwriting workshops, scholarships, awards and recognition programs, public service projects for senior composers and lyricists, and providing grants to other 501(c)(3) organizations engaged in educational programs for aspiring songwriters and composers.

The ASCAP Foundation accepts Letters of Inquiry from other 501(c)(3) organizations engaging in music education and talent development programs that are consistent with the mission and objectives of The ASCAP Foundation and which support music education programs for aspiring songwriters and composers.

The ASCAP Foundation does not consider requests for general operating or administrative support or annual giving campaigns, capital purposes, endowments, deficit operations, recordings, marketing efforts, performance or production funding nor do we purchase advertisements, sponsor events or donate equipment.

Full Grant Applications are submitted by invitation only. Based on the Letter of Inquiry, organizations may be invited by The ASCAP Foundation to submit a Full Grant Application for funding consideration. Full Grant Applications are reviewed in October and November and determinations for funding are made in December for the following fiscal year. Grantees are notified in January.

To be considered for a 2008 ASCAP Foundation Grant you must submit a Letter of Inquiry to The ASCAP Foundation no later than August 1, 2007. If you are asked to submit a Full Grant Application to The ASCAP Foundation it must be received in our office no later than October 1, 2007. Submitting a formal grant application does not guarantee funding.

The ASCAP Foundation receives a significant number of grant requests from 501(c)(3) organizations engaging in music programs that are consistent with our mission. Although many of the proposals we receive are worthy of financial support, our funds are limited. Therefore it is important that the programs we do support make every effort to credit The ASCAP Foundation whenever and wherever possible.
